Sometimes I wonder if my life is furtile. So bored and useless. People around me are enjoying their lives to the fullest and I’m sulking about how bad my life turn out to be. But just as I’m about to hit the bottom, I was being rescued again. I thought I gonna lose it all but then I realised it was just another beginning for me. Another chapter in my unwriten book of life. I’m gonna fill all these pages with my own will and determination.

Courage is what i need. Bravery is what I crave. Confidence is what I have.

Life is not something you can renew ocassionally. When it’s over, that’s it for you. No second shot at it! Well I gonna definately make full use of it.

So I decided to make a list of stuff I gonna do in the future. The list will keep on being renew. Heck I might even strikeout something I think I had achive! Ok here goes:

  1.        Learn a new language
  2.        Join a club
  3.        Donate my blood again
  4.        Write a song
  5.        Learn to swim
  6.        Speak my mind
  7.        Travel to other countries
  8.        Get a degree
  9.        Learn to love my life.

Isn’t life ironic??

All the while when I’m studying in FICT Petaling Jaya, I wished I was somewhere else. Somewhere with more freedom and somewhere where things are a bit more exciting. And here I am sitting in Sg. Long UTAR typing my latest blog entry …and I’m wishing I’m back at PJ all over again. Life here is not a bed of roses. People here are weird. OK maybe the term "weird" is a bit harsh. They are just… I dunno… I think maybe I’m the weird one here. The weirdo and the freak.  Both mash up into one individual. And worse of all I have to go through this journey on my own. All the shits I have to cope by myself. Assignments, dicussion group, tutorial etc etc.

Maybe I stay too long in my comfort zone. In FICT, I will stick to Sue Ling for whatever assignments or dicussion groups. My life is so good back then. I don’t have to worry about anything else. She’s smart and I’m OK. Together we both can handle assign and whatever effortlessly. (Ok.. actually she did most of the stuff! Haha..) Worry is the last thing in my mind.

But now I’m totally alone. Gonna start all over again! Have to get me a new "Miss-Know-It-All". Please drop me another SUE lIng!! A prototype or something!!Gosh….

Creature that prowls the street late at night. Scaring the day light outta ordinary innocent people. They sleep when the day is bright and become extra active when the Sun goes down. Nocturnal and dangerous as they may sound, but the truth is; they are just your typical college students. No claws, no goggle-vision, and definitely no BIG YELLOW eyes. Haha…

Nowadays, college students give “late-night sleeping” a new definition. Well, this definition is kinda weird (grammar teacher please takes note) cause it doesn’t mention anything at all about sleeping! Haha… Yes! Some people actually have this kinda new ideology about sleeping. This ideology revolves around the principle:

“Less Is More”

This means that somewhere out there, there are people who believe sleeping is a waste of time. Instead of sleeping (nooze…) they think they will make better use of their precious time by doing stuff like:

1.          Read the dictionary.

2.          Place their ass on top of sticky and bacteria-infected plastic chairs of some mamak store while shouting a repeating chant of (Insert the name of your favorite football team here.) while all the while they have a clear idea of the how big the proportion of their throat gonna grow tomorrow.

3.          Count the number of back flips they can do after consuming 3 Big Macs before vomiting

4.          Place their ass on top of sticky and bacteria-infected cushion chairs of some internet cafe while shouting a repeating chant of (Insert your choice of your favorite obscene language here) while all the while they have a clear idea of the how big the proportion of their throat gonna grow tomorrow.

5.          Stick their face to their house aquarium and wonder why fish sleep with their eyes open.

6.          Watch Scary Movies 4 alone in the dark and covers their eyes immediately (with cushions) when a laugh-out version of Ju-on appear. (A true case involved one of my friends. No name should be mention here but you know who you are… Sue Ling! Hahahhahahahah!!)

So for those of you that is still reading my blog now in the middle of the night, please

switch off your PC and rest your eyes. Your eyes will thank you for what you did! Haha… (Talking like an eye expert myself). Seriously, guys go and take some rest ok. Haha…

In the meantime, our friend, Sue Ling will still turn to her trusty cushions to get a long, peaceful, goodnight sleep.

Hahahahhaha….

In Semester 2, we are required to do an assignment for Writing for Mass Communication. In this assignment we are suppose to re-enact a scene of press conference of any kind. Our team (consists of Sue Ling, Arveen, Sam and me), decided to do a press conference on the announcement of the winner of our own version of Survivor. The whole “show” was a great success and we had a blast too. Haha… Now looking back at this incident, I realized that’s the only time in like 5 years, where I have anything to do with Survivor.

I started watching Survivor since the veeeeery beginning. Back then we don’t have any reality shows to watch (well, unless you considered Pop Kuiz as a reality show). So naturally it feels refreshing to watch something new and different. After watching the first episode (where a bunch of guys were thrown into water), I can’t help but continue watching it. The format and “plot” of the show are so intriguing and exciting that we are glued to our TV set weeks after weeks. Finally the 1st season ended with Richard Hatch emerged as the winner of the very 1st Survivor. The finale of the 1st season successfully knocks Friends outta top spots in ratings. Haha…

After that we have the 2nd season, where things are still as exciting as ever. Ratings are high and we follow each episode every week faithfully. Finally the 2nd winner emerged. It’s a she but I can’t remember her name. Haha… Naturally Mark Burnett would see Survivor as a money tree and decided to come up with the 3rd installment. The 3rd one was in Africa and the winner was a footballer with an afro (Ethan). After filming in dry places for the past two seasons (Outback and Africa), the producer goes back to the rainforest area (this time in Mauritius) to freshen things up. This season is still OK I guess (Neleh is so cute and adorable). The ratings might be slipping a bit but overall the show is OK.

Although I managed to watch every seasons after that, I find the show becoming more and more formulaic and bland. When Survivor: All Stars ended, I stopped watching completely. With the emerging of other reality shows like The Apprentice, America’s Next Top Model, American Idol, and The Bachelor; Survivors seem pale in comparison with the other show. Maybe Mark Burnett should just gulung tikar and ends the show in a high note. But no! I guess in Mark Burnett’s eyes, Survivors is still a cash cow and will still continue to generate cash. But unfortunately, things go downhill after that. The 9th season had been canned due to low ratings. After that, I don’t know what happened to Survivor.

Few weeks ago, while I was channel-surfing, I suddenly stumbled upon Survivor in ntv7. Since I had nothing better to watch, I decided “Why not?” But boy! What a naïve mind I have. Since then, I can’t stop watching!! I got captured into the magic of Survivor once again. I guess, absence do make the heart grows fonder!! Haha… Although this latest installment of Survivor (Exile Island) still contains those typical kind of characters from the previous installments (overweight African-American lady, cute and bubbly blonde girl, strong young man, tough old guys), this installment proved to be more exciting and interesting. Guys you can check Survivor: Exile Island out at 11.15 p.m.every Friday on ntv7. I’m putting all my money on Aras,a sociable strong young man. After watching Survivors for all these years I’m sure I can predict the kind of people that will emerged as winner!! Haha… K got to go. I have Survivor to catch!!

Haha…

Sigh.

Exam is here once again, bringing us a new sense of anxiety, doom-ness (is there such word??), and boredom ness. It’s as if they think that our life is not bad enough. They have to create something to just to make our life more miserable than theirs. So that their life will appear more carefree and relaxing.

Haih… typical.

Ok before the BIG day come, we are given a week off. No it’s not for a summer vacation in Orange County (as if) or to provides help for HIV+ patients in Africa. This one week is actually for us to (drum rolls) TO STUDY!!

Haih… typical.

Well fortunately, for this semester we only have to take 2 subjects. 2 subjects and 1 week of study?? That’s like incredibly brilliant!! Last semester, we have to take like, 6 subjects, and each subjects required us spending gazillion of hours just to master it. Well, we have it so much easier now. Thank goodness. So after I planned my time for the week, I set to work. Study, study, and study! Everyday I will study until 12 or 1am. Then I unwind myself (what else?) by jamming on my trusty Play Station 2. Haha… On typical day, I will play until 3 or 4am. (That’s maybe quite normal for most of you but for me that’s veeeery late!) Haha…

Well, one night while I was jamming as usual, I heard some noise coming from the back of my kitchen. This is quite normal considering the fact that I live in rumah papan. Every time my friends visited my house they will sure pop one question for me.

Ei your house got like wild animals coming in or not??

Usually I will just brush it off by saying a polite NO (Where got! You idiot! Your house got la). Or I could relate to them the story where an ular sawa fall from the attic to the living room. I will recount this event in specific details especially on the size of the ular sawa. (That day I was watching MTV as usual when I heard a loud THUD! coming from behind. I hastily turn around to find myself facing a 5 meters ular sawa you know!! That ular ah eating a tikus! I called my Dad la after that! Well unfortunately my Dad had to hantam the ular sawa to dead! Too bad for the ular sawa!!) At this point, some of my friends will ask whatever happen to the carcass of the snake.

I know way too well what they thinking.

“We throw the carcass down the river below la. I know where this conversation is heading! You gonna ask for the carcass of the animal rite?? You greedy fool!! You gonna cook the poor animal and eat it!! Just because you want to satisfy your hunger you are destroying the dream of this poor animal to have a “full body” when it die. (In Cantonese it is call “sei mo chuen see” [die without a full body parts]) I will not let your evil plan succeed!! NEVER!! NEVER!!”

I would want to say that but I say this instead

“Oh we throw it into the river. Yea we don’t eat snake. It’s too cruel. Beating it to death is enough”

Haha…

So, whatever at the back of my kitchen right now better beware cause there’s a punishment for trespassing! And the punishment isn’t just only beating it!

Kidding la. Just to scare the stupid creature!

Haih.. typical!

This entry is made when i was sitting in UTAR FICT lab. Another forthnight and i will be moving to FAM Sg. Long. So this maybe the very last time I wrote my blog here.

Since I enter UTAR, my life has changed for good. You see i was a geek in high school. Although I’m still a geek now, but I can proudly say that I’m a happier geek!! Haha… I know a bunch of new friends. I gain a lot during my studies and I’m a lot more outgoing compared to last time. Haha…

Nevertheless, saying goodbye is hard. Especially to something that you like and treasure so much! Haha… But starting anew is not a bad thing also. It gonna be a brand new beggining for me. Watch out Sg. Long! We are coming!!

i don’t know what the hell is wrong with me. Is like all the bad luck in the world is sticking to me now. As if i’m some kind of magnet that sucks all the bad luck. Haih…

Whatever stuff i buy, it will sure rosak wan. Sometime for no reason at all. My iPod(can’t get songs inside), my computer (dunno who bring virus home, mind u but my hse have no internet connection), now my handphone’s memory card (corrupted). Haih… I try to look at all these in a positive note. All these shits will eventually make me a tougher person. Like in the future if any of these stuff will happened again(knock wood!) I won’t freak out that much. I mean i faced these shits before so no prob for me. Memory card rosak, tak apa. iPod rosak, nevermind. If PC rosak, buy a new one larh. Haha…

All these remind me of a message that my friend, Danny, sent to me not long before. The message goes like this:

"Positive thinking is like this.. A little bird in the sky.. U look up & it shits in your eyes.. U don’t mind & u don’t cry… U just thank God that cows don’t fly."

Ok .. Now that’s a bit TOO much POSITIVE in ur life! I guess I’m not that extreme right?? I’m just a little bit "positive" in my life. That’s all!!

Now excuse me but i have to be on the look out for flying cow…

Finally after 4 months of gruesome criticism and screaming fans, Project Superstar had finally come to an end. The grand finale of the highly-popular show proved to be a glitzy and glamorous affair. The stage is breathtaking and the wardrobes are amazing. Basically the whole show was a blast. The two finalists, John and Des are both Superstar in their own definition. Des, the female-winner with soaring vocal and John, the male-counterpart winner with a charismatic personality. For me, both of them deserved to win this competition.

Well, for those of you that is still in the dark on who the winner is (What finale??), it is John. Basically, I think John wins because of all the support provided by his loyal fan base. Weeks after weeks, they will hold on tight to their cell phone and vote and vote and vote again for their idol. Now I’m not saying that John can’t sing. Actually John CAN sing. He is a good singer and an equally good performer. But just to certain extend. I mean let’s recap on what the judges’ verdicts on both of their performances. Des ruled over John in 4 out of 5 segments. Des’s voice hits the high note over and over again while John performed in a somewhat disoriented state (He claimed that he is not in a good condition). Des final song nearly moves everyone to tears while John’s final performance is just OK only la (so-so la). So if this is a talent based competition, clearly the winner is Des.

But not in the case of Project Superstar where the winner is picked based on the number of SMS-es received from the public. I guess John can relate to people better. His personality and whole package (yes, he can sing) appeal more to the general public. That’s why people vote for him over Des. Des, on the other hand, is this super-singer that sings her heart out in every of her performance. But people may find her cold and icy sometimes. That’s my opinion. Haha… In comparison, we have the sunny and bright John (He will flash a smile to whoever and whenever). Haha… So it’s natural that he received more votes.

Lastly, don’t be sad (Des’s fans out there) if Des can’t win. In my eyes, every one of them is a Superstar! It doesn’t matters who win this competition. What matters the most is the journey of the competition itself. What they picked up along the journey are priceless and can’t be replaced by anything in the world. The experience, the friendship, the bond and the confidence they acquired. You can’t put a price tag on these stuff y’know. I think that’s the real meaning behind this competition.
