The One With Yesterdays
May 29, 2007
People says when you think about a place you miss dearly, the first thing that pop into your mind will be faces of people rather than the scenery. Well, but ironically, one of the first thing that flashes through my mind when I think about my Foundation Studies’ campus is the cloudy skies above it.
For reasons more than one, the breathtaking and picture perfect scenery will always be part of my mind. Whenever the going gets rough I will reminisce the soft blows of wind, the fallen leaves and yes, the cloudy skies looming above. Somehow I knew that that place still exists there. But if only the feeling of revisiting the place will be the same as if the first time its beauty struck you.
Why do people searches for the same feeling over and over again? Is it because they can’t let go of the memories, or is it because they feel that it is too painful or reluctant to move on? But if I have a minute or two I will still go to that familiar place again once more to relive the memories once again; to feel the hands of clocks going backward and feel all the emotions flooding back; to feel that I still can ask "Will the skies be more beautiful tomorrow?".
A picture may says a thousand words, but I rather you all imagine it yourself. Imagine a place you like to be desperately. Feel yourself in it. Although deep inside you know that everything will not be the same again even if you’re there again once more, it’s always good to know that once at a point in time you were there smilling and looking like you’re having a time of your life.
The One WIth The Given 5ive
May 18, 2007
For the past few days, my mind have been compiling lotsa weird listings. Haha…. Please don’t ask me why, I haven’t yet discover the reason behind such an unexpected behavior (Usually it don’t behave in this way). But as to not put my brain power (ahem) to waste, I decided to put my humble thoughts on permanent displays in this blog. Here goes.
The Top 5 Movies I’m Dying To Watch
- 1) The Bre
akfast Club - It is number 1 for obvious reason of course. This movie is the teen movie every red-blooded teen should catch. I wonder how come I haven’t come across this fantastic movie earlier (It is so good). In fact I’ve only stumble upon this movie in the recent (Ok maybe not so recent) 2005 MTV Movie Awards where the movie was honored for some sort of awards. (MTV also reunite the whole cast). The movie revolves around 5 people from 5 different cliques (Princess, Jock, Brain, Criminal, Basketcase) of high school that somehow stuck together ina session of detention. Although completely different in term of personality and and attitudes towards life they somehow bonded and realized they are not so different after all. Released in 1985, this movie has since become a cult classic and has had tremendous influence on many coming of age films since then.
- 2) The Wizard
Of Oz - I remember seeing this movie when I was a very boy (very, believe me). I have a fraction of memories of this movie but I just can’t seem to recall the whole plot. (Guess my mind hasn’t developed fully as at that time). The only memorable character I remember is the Tin-Man! I don’t know why but I can’t seem to forget such a special character! And it was searching for a Heart. How memorable! The soundtrack prove to be a great one too: Somewhere Over The Rainbow!
- 3) The Exorcist - The pioneer of all horror film. Enough say rite?
Plus Linda Blair gripping performance as the possesed girl rightlyfully earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film did not dissapoint as well, it earned 10 Academy Awards nomination and walk home with two and emerged as the top grossing film of that year. (Imagine a horror film being nominated for Best Picture. You can’t get that nowadays. Haha)
- 4) The Sile
nce of the Lambs - I know. It’s like everyone have watched this movie right? I have no idea (again!) on how I miss out on this movie! Should give myself a kick in the head (Wait! I can’t do that by myself. Need someone to help me!). But I managed to catch the so-called prequel to the film, Red Dragon. It didn’t fare as bad though compared to the other horrendous films of the franchise! Seriously they should stop already! You give Silence a bad name.
- 5) When H
arry Met Sally… - I don’t know much about this film (it’s a romantic comedy I guess) but the pairing of Billy Crystal with Meg Ryan certainly can’t be that bad right? Plus it have an Oscar nomination to boost! Haha… As this movie become one of the movie people talk about when they are in New York, I become intrigued to watch it. Hopefully it fare well. The soundtrack to it is not weak either. A good film with a good score!
*Another bad case of poor aligning! And I don’t know how to align!!Freaking weird. Hope you all understand! Sorry for the confusion!
The Top Five Movies Of All Time
- Forest Gump - Tom Hanks shine like a overheat pendaflour bulb in this film. Damn inspiring! Go and watch it if you haven’t got the chance and watch it again to relive the moment! Haha..
- Summer Snow - Well first of all I do watch Hong Kong movie, and this is one of the best I have catch so far. Staring Hong kong veteran Josephine Siao (which gives a brilliant performance as a daughter-in-law caring for her ill father-in-law). The fil sweep The Big 5 awards in the 15th Hong Kong Film Awards.
- The Blair Witch Project - First of all, it is raw! Secondly it is innovative and lastly it is fresh. Although the use of profanities is unavoidable in the film but that the true edge of it right? Love the cliffhanging ending. One of the horror movie I love the most!
- Pan’s Labyrinth - Although it is in Spanish but the meaning of the film is universal. It tell the tale of a young girl creating a fantasy land of her own to escape the cruel reality. A must-watch.
- Spirited Away - It is one of the most entertaining films I have ever seen. I know it’s cartoon but who cares! I love it to every bits and it teaches a very important lesson too! Damn entertaining and poignant at the same time too!

The One With Craziness and Holidays
May 15, 2007
Well, my fellow Utarians, holidays are dawned upon us once again. (Mr. Lai should really announce that in front of South Lobby… Haha…) But do you remember the time when we all are in high school and the guru besar that time will actually take the effort to remind us the dangers of holidays. (What!!??) I’ll give you an example.
Sri Sentosa (My Beloved School) - Early Monday morning. Students looked like a bunch of walking corpses.
Pn. Goh ( I can only recall her name for an undisclosed reason) : Selamat pagi sekalian. Hari ini saya nak cakap sikit aje, tak banyak. (Sarcasm is the in thing for her I guess) Berkaitan dgn cuti sekolah. Cuti ini belilah buku-buku rujukan dan bacalah sedikit sebanyak yang mungkin. Walaupun cikgu belum ajar tapi at least kamu ada macam rough idea apa yang cikgu nak ajar nanti…………..
(Portion of the specch had been removed due to its long, winding and totally unnecessary content. Thank you.)
……jadi sempena cuti ni, jagalah diri baik baik. Jangan buat perkara yang akan kamu kesal nanti. Dan ingat pepatah Inggeris, "you go in one piece, you come back also in one piece". Terima kasih.
At this point there will usually be huge outburst and loud clapping. (Some people doesn’t have much patience, you see) But if there is a cliches alarm at that time (should really invent that) it will definately be zooming around all the place producing tear gasses and emitting loud annoying noise to warn us about the incoming cliches.
OK i exaggeratted a bit.
Enough about the school shits anyway. We are in uni NOW, as you can see our principal doesn’t take a mic and announce to us about the incoming holidays or call us to pick up any rubbish around uni compound.
OK back to my topic.
H-O-L-I-D-A-Y-S!! Just the thoughts of it will make our stomach twist, our eyebrow itch, and our palms sweat like it’s nobody’s business (OK maybe it’s just MY business. Take note: they have a name for sweaty palm! HYPERHIDROSIS, mind you) in anticipation. Especially after a long and dreading exam period. (It’s like hell seriously) So the coming holidays will be wisely used to recharged our tired mind, give us a time to catch our breath and (horror of all horror) a time to take up a new hobby!!
NOT!!
Who said holidays are meant to be spent that way! Holidays, in my humble opinion, are the time to hang out till late at night, the time we used to do all the crazy stuff that we will regret the morning after and also the time to BLOG all you want!! (Seriously I’m freakin busy to blog during uni time!).
Apart from the aforementioned three objectives, I have also found out some other stuff that I find appropriate to do during my holidays.
- Go for a trip (Been to Tekam- no blog entry on that)
- Meet my friends and spend some quality time catching up (Ah Chang just came to KL!! Yipee!)
- MSN like there is no tomorrow (There is no time lapse when you are MSN-ing)
- Reread all my Harry Potter series (the last book is coming out soon! Can’t wait!!)
- Catch all the lastest movies (MOVIE!!) at any time
Hmm.. some of you might say that the list above lack the element of craziness i mentioned earlier. (Wait! You can hurt your eyes and seriously sprain your wrist if you MSN a bit too fast!) But I seriously think that element of craziness should be left on its own. What I trying to say is the unexpectancy of its existence is the most crazy at all. I mean if the craziness is planned then what would be the point? If you didn’t expect it to come and when it hits you like *BANG*, that is the moment you should treasure!
So during the whole holidays I will be sitting around at home having char kuey teow with the Queen of England discussing the collaboration between McDonald and PETA for a course to save stray cat from extinction while waiting for a meteor to hit my residential area. Oh yeah… shit… the element of craziness! I totally forget about it!
Damn.. That’s totally crazy.
The One With Changes
May 11, 2007
People says changes can be good or bad. Depending on how you look at it. But either way believe me, most of the stuff will change. It will be either now or in the future. You will change and I will change also.
I feel totally sick right now. I wonder how one of my friend could changed into somebody I barely know. In my heart I keep on thinking about the time we shared together. If I ever look at you now i will not be able to imagine, or rather, afraid to imagine that I have actually spend a good 3 years of my life becoming a best friend to you. It’s like a hard cold fact stabbing me deep inside.
It make me feel even sick when I tell myself that someday you will become who you are once again. Become a friend that I once know and become a buddy that I lost. I guess these false hope is too far fetched for me. I’ve just lost a friend and I feel reluctant to accept that as a damn fact. I rather imagine you have gone off for awhile, at least that way, I can lie to myself and make me feel so much better.
I feel invisible to you now. Deep inside of me, I questioned myself on where have I gone wrong. I try to find something to blame, to make it feel as though all the stuff that happened is not on your own free will; I rather hope that you forced to change into this other person.
A true good friend is hard to find and harder to keep. All the cliches finally mean something to me now. You don’t know how it feel until it finally hits you.
Well, what do you say buddy, is it time to say goodbye now?
